Progressive Lenses

This lens innovation increases clarity and provide three ranges of vision: near, intermediate and distance.  No need for a second pair of glasses or peering over the bifocals.

No-Line Bifocals/Trifocals

Progressive lenses are often referred to as “No-Line Bifocals” or “No-Line Trifocals”.  Progressives eliminate the visible lines of traditional bifocals and trifocals and hides the fact that you need reading glasses and the need for multiple pairs of glasses for specific fields of vision.

Why Do I Need Progressive Lenses?

Once you reach the age of 40, give or take a few years, a person’s vision gradually changes over a five to seven year period and then it usually stabilizes. The gradual change is caused by the crystalline lens inside the eye to change shape. The changing shape of the crystalline lens allows one to focus from distance to near and back. Tiny attachments to the lens called zonules gradually lose their ability to cause the lens to change shape and hence to allow focusing at different distances. This is a natural maturing (aging) change and will happen to all of us.

Choosing the Right Progressive Lens

Here at SimplyEyeglasses.com, we provide our customers with three choices of progressive lenses.

  • Traditional Progressive – Tried and true quality design at an affordable price point.  Our Traditional Progressive is a conventional design with intermediate and near corrections on the front side of the lens, while the distance correction is fabricated on the rear side of the lens.
  • Digital Progressive – Middle tier progressive, our Digital Progressive features digitally produced curvatures (distance, intermediate and near) on the rear surface of the lens moving all corrections closer to eye providing crisper vision.
  • Digital HD Progressive – Fully customizable digitally produced progressive based upon individual prescription and frame size.  The wide corridor provides almost seamless transitioning from distance to intermediate to near while providing superior peripheral vision.  The ultimate in progressive lenses.

Adjusting to Progressive Lenses

If you’re new to progressive lenses it could take several days to a couple weeks to adjust.

You must learn to move your head to see things, you cannot simply keep your head straight and move your eyes because you’ll be looking through a blurry part of the lens. As mentioned, it could take some time to adapt, one could experience dizziness and headaches during the time that you are adapting. Please call us to speak to optician or consult your eyecare specialist to get instructions on how to use progressive lenses.

With today’s lens designs, nearly everyone can wear progressive lenses successfully especially the Kodak Unique Digitally Technology because its only been in rare cases a patient has not been able to adjust.
